Reward Fund Established for Information on Murdered Teen
The City of Moreno Valley has established a fund at Wells Fargo bank to accept donations toward a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrator(s) responsible for killing 17-year-old Norma Lopez.

Norma Lopez Memorial Fund
The Moreno Valley Unified School District (MVUSD), located at 25634 Alessandro Boulevard, is accepting donations to assist the family of Norma Lopez , a 17 year-old girl who was abducted and murdered while walking home from school, with her funeral expenses. Donations to the Norma Lopez Memorial Fund may also be deposited at the Wells Fargo Bank located at 12625 Frederick Street. Please make sure you indicate the deposit is for the Memorial Fund as the Normal Lopez Reward Fund has also been established at this location for donations from the public.

Moreno Valley Police Department Checkpoint Seeks to Save Lives
Drunk driving is one of America’s deadliest crimes. In California last year 1,029 people died in crashes involving a driver or motorcycle rider with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or higher. That is why the Moreno Valley Police Department announced today they will be holding a DUI/Driver’s License checkpoint on Thursday, September 2 from 1800-2300 in Moreno Valley.

Interim City Manager William L. Bopf has appointed Richard Teichert as the Financial and Administrative Services Director. Teichert was selected after an open and competitive recruitment and will fill the position left vacant by the departure of Steve Elam in June. Teichert will oversee the Financial Operations, Treasury Operations, Purchasing and Facilities, Technology Services, and Animal Services Divisions of the City.

Balloting Begins for Residential Streetlights
The City has initiated a process to fund the increased costs associated with the streetlights located in residential neighborhoods in Moreno Valley. Electricity charge increases imposed by the electric utility providers have significantly increased the cost that the City must pay to operate the residential streetlights.
