Junior Accessor Dwelling Units (JADU)

A Junior ADU (JADU) is an conversion of existing space of 500 square feet or less within an existing single-family dwelling unit structure (house or garage).
Common areas of conversion are garages, master bedrooms, and family/living rooms. A JADU is allowed separate or shared sanitation facilities (bathroom) and/or shared laundry facilities within the structure. However, is required to have separate cooking facilities (efficiency kitchen) and a separate exterior entrance.
A new address is not created for a Junior ADU. It cannot have a separate electrical meter. See Municipal Code 9.09.130 for more information.
