Converted Space ADUs

Garage Conversion ADU

Converted Space ADUs are spaces on the property that have been converted into an independent living space.

A Converted Space ADU means that part of an existing home (e.g., master bedroom, attached garage, storage area, or similar use) or an accessory structure is partitioned off and renovated to form a separate living space. You may also choose a lower-level ADU (in the basement) or an upper-level ADU (in the attic).

The City will create a separate address (separate electric meter is not required but recommended).

They are self-sufficient dwellings and contain a kitchen, a living area, bathroom facilities, and bedroom(s) with a maximum size of 1,000 square feet. There should also be privacy from the main dwelling.
