MANAGEMENT STATEMENT
Fiscal year 2016/2017 was an important year for Moreno Valley Utility (MVU),
as the focus was on the development of a road map that will guide the utility

forward for the next several years. MVU’s Road Map to the Future is the result

of a collaborative effort between utility staff and the Utilities Commission,

and is the foundation to building a financially healthy, effective, and valuable

asset for the community.

The process of building this road map started with the formation of a vision of

the utility in the future by answering these questions – how do we see MVU?

What is our purpose? How will we serve? Critical issues facing MVU and the

electric utility industry were identified and strategic areas were defined and

developed. It is our goal to realize the vision set forth in the Road Map by

focusing on achieving excellence in six strategic areas – Customers, Reliability

and Infrastructure, Community and Economic Development, Power Supply,

Finance, and Workforce.

The report that follows describes achievements made during the year in

each strategic area that moves MVU forward and benefits the community by

“Powering a Brighter Tomorrow – Today.”

On behalf of the City Council, Utilities Commission, and staff, we are grateful

for the opportunity to serve the community of Moreno Valley.
