What would you do if disaster knocked at your door?

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training helps to educate the public regarding disaster preparedness for the hazards that may impact their area, and trains them in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety and suppression, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations, to name a few.

CERT Training

Learn how to be prepared, potentially save lives & work with others in your community to do the greatest good for the greatest number of people during a large-scale disaster. Upon completion of the 20 hour class, each student receives a CERT backpack with basic supplies to help get them started on their personal preparedness journey! Students must attend entire class to receive the backpack.

This entry-level, no-stress course is designed for everyone! You do not have to have an emergency response background to attend!

Class participants must be 18+ to attend; however, currently enrolled high school freshman or above students may attend the 20 hour class with a parent or guardian.

Terrorism & Fire Suppression

    • City of Moreno Valley Office of Emergency Management offers three CERT Refresher classes per year. The Refreshers offer the opportunity to practice and refresh skills and experience from the CERT class training. This is the third and final refreshers of 2026. Completing all three will allow you to be best prepared for participation in an exercise at the end of the year where you will be assigned to deploy and assist in an incident within the City to work alongside other CERT members and City employees, utilizing your skills to assist in fire suppression, search and rescue, triaging, and more.

    Our third of three Refreshers will be on Terrorism and Fire Suppression. Learn about the vulnerabilities people create in the workplace, how to identify potential locations in your community at risk of acts of terrorism, and what you can do to stop the threat. You will also learn about the key safety elements of preventing fire in the home and workplace, and how to suppress small fires in order to avoid a major disaster. The date of the class will be on Thursday September 17, 2026 from 6pm to 8pm. The Refresher course will be held at Office of Emergency Management 22870 Calle San Juan de los Lagos, Moreno Valley, CA 92553. Portions of this training will be held indoors and outdoors, rain or shine, so please be sure to bring appropriate attire.
