Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) is rolling out a new, optional time-of-use (TOU) rate plan for residential customers. TOU plans can help you manage your energy bills. In general, using electricity between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. is the most expensive, when electrical demand peaks. By taking advantage of lower rates during off-peak and super off-peak periods, you can avoid higher weekday rates when energy resources are in high demand.
Who Qualifies for the Time-of-Use Plan?
The new time of use plan is available to any residential customer as an optional rate. The TOU plan is required for customers with newly installed solar systems, for existing residential customers with solar systems that are increased in size by 10% or more, and for those who add energy storage. This rate is ideal for electric vehicle owners who charge their cars outside the peak hours of 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
