Moreno Valley Utility (MVU) offers a time-of-use (TOU) rate plan for residential customers. TOU plans can help you manage your energy bills.  In general, using electricity between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. is the most expensive, when electrical demand peaks.  By taking advantage of lower rates during off-peak and super off-peak periods, you can avoid higher weekday rates when energy resources are in high demand.

Summer: June 1 –September 31

Summer power costs (weekdays): 29.8 cents per kWh off-peak, 48.3 cents during peak; weekends/holidays: 29.8 cents off-peak, Peak hours are 4pm to 9pm. Summer power costs (weekends): 29.8 cents per kWh off-peak, 39.2 cents during peak; weekends/holidays: 29.8 cents off-peak. Peak hours are 4pm to 9pm.

Winter: October 1 –May 31

Winter power costs (weekday, weekend, and holiday): 28.9 cents per kWh super-off-peak; 42.9 cents during peak; 32 cents per kWh off-peak. Peak hours are 4 pm to 9 pm.

Who Qualifies for the Time-of-Use Plan?

The new time of use plan is available to any residential customer as an optional rate.  The TOU plan is required for customers with newly installed solar systems, for existing residential customers with solar systems that are increased in size by 10% or more, and for those who add energy storage.
