Meet Mayor Pro Tem Baca

A native of Los Angeles, Victoria Baca comes from a large family with a long military history dating back to World War I. Her father, a WWII Veteran, raised Victoria and her siblings to be patriotic and follow the rules – an approach he learned in the military. Victoria’s mother, a California native, had a strong belief in the value of education, and with her encouragement, Victoria went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Master of Arts degree in Education.

Victoria moved to Moreno Valley in 1990 and started a small business. She helped launch the first Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in Moreno Valley. This was the start of her long history in community involvement. Victoria was elected to the Moreno Valley Unified School District Board of Education in 2006, where she served a four-year term representing the people of Moreno Valley.

In 2012, Victoria was elected to the Moreno Valley City Council, making her the first Latina in the City’s history to be elected to the City Council. In 2013, she was selected by her council colleagues to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem. On November 8th, 2016, Victoria was once again elected to the Moreno Valley City Council to represent the newly created District 1.

Victoria’s priorities remain stimulating economic activity, providing good quality jobs for Moreno Valley residents, ensuring top quality schools and safer neighborhoods.

Victoria has lived in Moreno Valley for 26 years. She has one daughter and three grandchildren.
